Welcome to Mayotte

One day, a company opened office near Yara’s house, ready to sell its own products, specializing in art.

Upon hearing about it online, she decided to apply for a job there and suddenly, she got accepted to work at the office in question.

On her first day at work, Yara met two people and their boss.

They were nice and welcoming towards her to the point her colleagues introduced themselves as Nadim and Rouwaïda, who were originally from the villages of Chiconi and Poroani, respectively.

Everything went well for her new company within the next 4 days, until it went out of business 2 weeks later, after their boss disappeared, closing its offices and locking their employees out of their workplace.

In the aftermath of the company’s bankruptcy, Yara managed to become friends with Nadim and Rouwaïda, who were all left jobless at the same time.

Not long after, they created a group to track down on their boss’ whereabouts.

However, they made a shocking discovery:

Turns out, their boss has been lying about her entire life in a way to deceive others and was a migrant from the neighboring island of Anjouan, who had a criminal record for abusing her ex-husband.

Upon finding out about this, Yara, Rouwaïda and Nadim were all shocked and realized that their boss was a horrible person, so they quickly moved on from their former company and parted ways with each other.

5 days later, Yara saw a young man while on the way to her house.

She gave him some of her leftover snacks before giving him a can of coffee and going to her house.

Little did she knew, he showed up in her doorway the next day, thanking her for the food and drinks she gave him the other day.

“Oh, hey there Yara, thanks for saving me the other day.”, the young man said.

“You’re welcome.”, Yara replied.

He later introduces himself as Bruno, who was originally from Mozambique, of mixed Danish-German and Malawian ancestry.

Upon hearing about his story, she got interested in knowing more about him and for who he was as a person.

She asks him to come sleep with her, and to her shock, he agreed, on the condition that it would be a secret between the two of them, so that her parents wouldn’t find out.

From that night on, Yara and Bruno would become more than friends, but rather as lovers.

3 days later, after he was done with her, he decided to stay in bed next to her and told her a story about his friends Niels and Lael.

“Would you mind meeting my friends so that they can also be yours?”, Bruno said.

“I’d love to meet them.”, Yara said back.

The next day, she saw Niels going for a walk while shirtless.

Upon her waving at him and hugging him, he then saw her as the love of his life and offered her coffee, so that she can drink coffee with him.

The two of them got along with each other, to the point he began having a crush on her after she told him about her dreams of becoming a game developer.

After having a conversation, in which he agreed to support her in everything she does no matter what, she parted ways with him, blowing a kiss to him before walking away.

He then thought to himself about being with her despite him meeting her for the very first time.

2 days later, Bruno introduced Yara to Lael, who was also interested in heavy metal music.

They got along very well, as they had several things in common and at one point, they gave flowers to each other as a parting gift after they slept with each other.

4 days after that meeting, Yara was with her friends at a café, when Nadim, her former colleague, told her that Niels invited her for a walk and to spend the night with him at her house.

“No way, is that true for real?”, Yara said, in complete shock.

Suddenly, Niels walked in, and tells her if she can walk with him, and she simply nodded yes, to her friends and Nadim’s excitement.

Soon, they started going for a walk outside of the café, and eventually, they reached a nearby beach, where they started running in the sands.

As it was starting to get darker and darker, she asked him if they can spend the night at her house, and he was more than happy to go to her house.

Upon arriving at her house, he cooked dinner for the two of them before drinking coffee with her.

In the middle of the night, she then asks him if he can enjoy the night with her, and he agrees.

The next morning, Yara wakes up to Niels cuddling her and she cuddles him in return, before parting ways with each other.

5 days later, Amaris arrived in the island, where she met the locals, some of whom welcomed her.

“Welcome to Mayotte”, Rouwaïda and Nadim said to her.

They and Yara invited her to the rooftop of the latter’s house, where they had their sandwiches together, in midst of a sunset.

Soon, Yara and Bruno walked behind and while they were facing each other at the rooftop, they began smiling in front of the camera.

Later that evening, while everyone at the rooftop were toasting and drinking their cans of tea, Niels and Lael showed up, holding roses in a way so that Yara can pay attention to them.

By then, she noticed them, and they gave her the roses, in which she thanked them for their gift towards her.

In the end, she took a selfie with Niels before doing it with Rouwaïda, Nadim and Bruno, eventually doing it with Lael.

She shared it with them, before posting it on social media, where it became viral.

Her post, which consisted of her selfie with Niels, had a caption that read the following: “Welcome to Mayotte”

And so, the story of Yara’s life in the island had come to an end, as she was now heading towards Germany, all by herself, accompanied by Amaris.
